All the pretty plants

Wright's Purple Skullcap

Hey y’all. Ziva and I had an amazing day picking up plants from our native supplier, then stopping by Martin Dies Jr State Park on the way home. That is such a beautiful park. You should stop by to visit it if you ever get the chance.

Anyway. Here’s a little video showing the plants we picked up today. I’ll have the inventory updated on the website tonight for the plants that were out of stock. Tomorrow I’ll start adding the new plants to the Boutique. Let me know if you have questions on any of them. Enjoy!

Happy diggin’ in the dirt!

Hello there! How’s everyone doing today? Who else is ready for Fall weather to finally come to our area?? I know I am. The forecast says next week should be beautiful. We shall see, I reckon.

Anyway. I made an order with my awesome native plant supplier, so Ziva and I will be daytrippin’ Monday to pick up a much needed mostly native plant order. Here’s the list:

But wait … there’s more!

Plants, that is. Ziva and I did our little road trip today to pick up some plants we ordered. These are now in the house:

  • ‘PowWow Pink’ Coneflower

        • ‘Pink Magic’ Asters
          • ‘Purple Magic’ Asters
            • ‘Mystic Spires’ Salvia

The Rue and Coneflower inventories have been updated on the website. I’ll add the Asters and Salvia pages to it by tomorrow. They are all blooming and beautiful. I’ll post pictures of all of them in a bit. The Asters are in cute terracotta looking containers all ready for you to put on your sunny porch or patio to enjoy. Or you can plant them in your garden.

I found another cool supplier, so I went on ahead and made an order from them that we’ll pick up Monday the 12th.

Next week’s orders!

Hello hello. I’m telling y’all, next week is gonna be a busy one for me and Ms Ziva cause we’ll have two plant orders to pick up, all of our customer deliveries, and I’m finishing up plant lists for the Garden Walkabout Consultations I did this week. phew. I definitely need Monday off to get some rest. lol

Wednesday we’re picking up an order from the supplier we just went to a couple of days ago cause y’all have bought almost all the coneflowers and a lot of the herbs (that’s a good problem to have, btw), then either Thursday or Friday will be the big order pick up day from our very fav native plant supplier cause y’all are quickly whittling away at my native plants (again, a very good problem to have).

Here’s what we’re getting Wednesday:

  • * ‘Cheyenne Spirit’ Coneflower
  • * ‘Indian Summer’ Rudbeckia
  • Rue Herb
  • Salvia ‘Mystic Spires’
  • * ‘PowWow Wild Berry’ Coneflower
  • ‘Magic Pink’ Asters
  • ‘Magic Purple’ Asters
  • Whichever other herbs I need to add to the list by Tuesday

As always, * denotes a native or nativar plant.

Speaking of the herbs. I’ll be working diligently the next few days to add more descriptions to each individual herb listed on the Herb Page, including their medicinal value, which butterflies/caterpillars they are host and/or nectar plants for, and which other pollinators they attract.

I should be able to make a post on Tuesday letting y’all know what’s in the big order.

Here are pics for Wednesday’s order. Click on the pics to get info for the plant. The pic at the top of the page shows ‘PowWow Wild Berry’ Coneflower.

A little bit of this …

Black Swallowtail on Parsley

… and a little bit of that.

Well hello there, my peeps. How’s everyone on this fine but cloudy day?? Ziva and I are wonderful, thank you for asking.

Today I’m adding into the Boutique the new plants we picked up this week: Pindo Palm; white African Iris; Drift roses in lemon, peach, red, and white; ‘August Beauty’ gardenia, ‘Nikko Blue’ hydrangea; Texas Compata Sage; Dwarf Wax Myrtle; Dwarf Cherry Laurel; Dwarf Powderpuff Bush; Fatsia japonica, and ‘Peter’s Peach Creek’ Sweetspire.

I’ve already updated the Boutique for the plants that were restocked: 3-gallon yellow Lady Banks roses and weeping Yaupon Hollies.

I found a good supplier for herbs, so I’m picking these up next week. Herbs can be edible, medicinal, and host/nectar plants for butterflies (that pic is of a Black Swallowtail on parsley), so I’ll put all the info I can about using herbs all of those ways into the description part of their pages.

  • Italian, Sweet Italian, Purple Ruffles Basil
  • Cilantro
  • Onion Chives
  • Garlic Chives
  • Fern Leaf Dill
  • Fennel Onion
  • Lemon Balm
  • Marjoram
  • Apple, Mojito, Chocolate, Peppermint Mints
  • Rue
  • Pineapple Sage
  • Italian Giant and Triple Curled Parsley
  • Tricolor and Garden Sage
  • Stevia
  • Tarragon
  • Lemon Thyme
  • Rosemary ‘Histil Perigord’
  • Calendula

Check this out, y’all. I got this notification this morning from WordPress, and it made me so very happy. I think my little business is doing pretty darn good considering I’ve only been open since mid-June. So many, many thanks go out to all of my customers. Y’all rock!!

I have the BEST customers!!!

When I started talking about opening an online garden center that specialized in native plants, I got a lot of negative comments back about how no one wants to plant natives. Well, I think y’all have proven all those negative people wrong. So I’m gonna keep focusing on natives so we can all do our part to keep the bio-diversity of our own little corners of the world going strong. Thank y’all so very much!

Happy diggin’ in the dirt.
