03/24 Plant Pick Up Post

Bee on Joe Pye Weed

So excited to tell you about another native plant supplier that I found! She grows her natives from seeds, is in Alachua County, and grows some plants I haven’t been able to find locally. Her plants are in 4″ containers and will be $6 each. To compare, the 1-gallon size I sell is a 6″ container. So these plants will be a bit smaller than the 1-gallons, but so is the price. The group she’s growing for me will be ready in the April/May/June timeframe. Here’s what I’m getting:

  • Amorpha fruiticosa, False Indigo Bush
  • Berlandiera subacaulis, Greeneyes (new)
  • Callirhoe papaver, Poppy Mallow (new)
  • Chamaecrista fasiculata, Partridge Pea (new)
  • Conoclinum coelestinum, Blue Mistflower
  • Crocanthemum carolinianum, Frostweed (new)
  • Elephantopus carolinianus, Carolina Elephantsfoot (new)
  • Elephantopus elatus, Tall Elephantsfoot (new)
  • Flaveria linearis, Coastal Plain Yellowtop (new)
  • Ipomopsis rubra, Standing Cypress (new)
  • Helianthus radula, Stiff Sunflower (new)
  • Liatris elegans, Pinkscale Gayfeather (new)
  • Mitchella repens, Partridge Berry (new)
  • Oenothera simulans, Southern Beeblossom (new)
  • Rivina humilis, Rouge Plant
  • Rudbeckia mollis, Softhair Coneflower (new)
  • Rudbeckia triloba, Browneye Susan (new)
  • Scutellaria arenicola, Helmet Skullcap
  • Andropogon virginicus var. glaucus, Chalky Bluestem (new)
  • Sorghastrum secundum, Lopsided Indiangrass (new)

I’ll start adding Garden Shop description pages for these so you can get on the waitlist.

She does grow plants that I already sell in 1-gallon size. If y’all are interested in the 4″ size, I might start carrying more in that size.

Ziva and I have been busy getting in new/restocked natives for you. Here’s what we got in stock last week and are getting this week. Click on the highlighted plant name to be taken to its description page.

All are Florida native plants.
(new) This is the first time being sold in Bella’s Garden Shop

Phew. That’s a lot of plants to load, unload, then set out in Bella’s area. Yeah, we’ve been busy. lol

So, let me know what you think about the new 4″ plant selection.

Happy diggin’ in the dirt!
