Smooth Hydrangea

Smooth Hydrangea

A few months ago I had the beautiful Hydrangea arborescens, Smooth Hydrangea, in stock in 7-gallon size. Y’all loved that plant so much that I sold out of it within a couple of days. Well, I’m happy to say that my awesome native supplier now has the 3-gallon size in stock! They are $22 each, and the plants are 1-2′ tall. They are listed as “available on backorder” in the garden shop. That simply means I don’t have any in stock but my supplier does. So go on ahead and click here: Smooth Hydrangea, to go order yourself some.

This plant is perfect for that part sun/part shade part of your garden. Its white flowers can be either mophead form or lacecap form. I think it’s so cool that it can have both form types blooming at the same time. It grows 3-6′ tall x 6-8′ wide. It’s a Florida native, and it’s the host plant to the Hydrangea Sphinx moth. What’s not to love about it!

Remember that October through April is the perfect time in our area to plant those hardy trees, shrubs, and perennials.

Happy diggin’ in the dirt!
