07/21 Plant Pick Up Post and Whatnot

Saltmarsh Mallow

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to see me at Amelia’s Native Wildflowers in Yulee on July 12 for the Nature & Natives Market! I very much enjoy getting to see my customers in person. Lindsey from Amelia’s Native Wildflowers has the markets on the 2nd Saturday of every month. I’ll be there as a vendor selling my cool native plants each month.

And thanks to those who hung around to hear my presentation on how to attract birds to our gardens using native plants! I’ll make a post soon on that subject.

Anyway. Yep, it’s July in Florida, which means it’s stinkin’ hot and humid outside. I’ve been working a lot in my personal garden adding new plants and in Bella’s area thinning the wooded area so I’ll have extra space for more plants, doing the never ending plant rearranging, and doing the never ending weed control. Lots of Gatorade, water, and shade breaks is how I deal with the heat.

You can plant this time of year. Just understand that the plants will need more water to help them get established. Thankfully our summer rains do help with that.

I also keep getting new/restocked plants for y’all even this time of year. This is what I’m picking up the week of July 21st. Click on the plant name to be taken to its Garden Shop page to learn more about the plant and to buy yourself some Florida native plants!

I’m excited to see what the 7-gallon Pawpaws look like. And having the Wild Olives back in stock makes me very happy cause I love that tree/shrub. Which native do you like the best??

Happy diggin’ in the dirt!
