05/25 Plant Pick Up

Coral Bean flowers

It’s time for the weekly Plant Pick Up Post! This week Ziva and I are picking up more awesome native 1-gallon perennials. Some are restocking of sold out plants and some are new to Bella’s website.

And here’s the list:

  • *Erythrina herbacea, Coral Bean
  • *Hypericum tenuifolium, St. John’s Wort (new)
  • *Mimosa strigillosa, Sunshine Mimosa (new)
  • *Muhlenbergia capillaris, Pink Muhly Grass
  • *Aquilegia canadensis, Eastern Red Columbine
  • *Hibiscus coccineus, Scarlet Hibiscus
  • *Salvia coccinea, Tropical Red Sage
  • *Amsonia ciliata, Fringed Bluestar

Legend:
*Native/nativar to Florida
(new) First time for sale on Bella’s website

Note on the St. John’s Wort: This is NOT the edible/medicinal, non-native St John’s Wort, Hypericum perforatum. That plant is considered a noxious, invasive weed in several states, so it will not be sold on Bella’s website. However, there are plenty of cool herbal shops around that you can buy the dried St John’s Wort from for your tinctures, potions, or whatnot.

Now. On to the pics showing the plants in their mature glory!

Here’s a sneak peek into next week’s pick up: 3-gallon size ornamental and fruiting native trees: Pawpaws, Common Persimmon, Wafer Ash, Southern Magnolias, Grancy Graybeard, Dogwoods (Silky, White Flowering, and Dwarf Swamp), Weeping Yaupon Holly; shrubs: Oakleaf Hydrangea, Possumhaw Viburnum; and American Wisteria vine.

Looking for a certain plant that isn’t listed on the website? All you gotta do is tell me what it is, and I’ll see if my suppliers grow it.

Happy diggin’ in the dirt!
