Lemon Sorbet Shrimp Plant

Description

Botanical Name:  Justicia ‘Lemon Sorbet’

Common Name:  ‘Lemon Sorbet’ Shrimp Plant

Description:  What a beautiful Shrimp Plant! I love the pale yellow blooms on it. Likes part sun, morning sun only, to part shade. Produces delicious-looking chartreuse blooms Spring through the Fall. Water usage is low, but I wouldn’t call it drought tolerant. Flower bracts resemble 4-6″ shrimp-shaped spikes of overlapping pastel lemon-yellow bracts with white tubular flowers on a 2-4′ tall and wide mound of soft, apple-green leaves. This tough, attractive plant is an extremely long bloomer and responds well to pruning. Likes moist, well-drained soil. Hummingbirds love it!! This is a perennial shrub that adds a touch of the tropical to our shade gardens. Give plant a little haircut if it gets too leggy in late summer.

Fun Fact:  It’s the white flower inside the bracts that attracts both hummingbirds and butterflies.

This plant in 1-gallon containers is 1′ tall and wide.

Hardiness Zones 8 – 10
