Common Name: Gulf Coast Penstemon, Gulf Beardtongue, Brazos Penstemon, Brazos Beardtongue, Sharp-sepal Penstemon, Sharp-sepal Beardtongue
Description: Texas native perennial that grows 1-1/2 to 2′ tall and wide. Beautiful purple flowers bloom on tall stalks Spring into early Summer. The flowers make excellent cut flowers. Likes moist areas, but will adapt to regular garden areas that get irrigation during droughts. Sun to part shade. Attracts butterflies, hummingbirds, native bees, and other pollinators. Can reseed itself if the spent flower blooms are not deadheaded.
